CDS Business Mapping, LLC., was founded in 1994 as a digital mapping sales and consulting company. The company is dedicated exclusively to the creation and implementation of mapping solutions using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. Over the years, the company has provided a full line of mapping software, application development services, Internet mapping development, training and consulting. The company created mapping applications and consulted on projects for a variety of industries.

Founded in the Hartford, CT area, CDS began showing the capabilities of mapping software to local insurance companies. Insurers immediately saw the potential of using mapping technology to automate their underwriting processes. Many insurance underwriting rules are geography based, making GIS technology an ideal solution. The idea for the RiskMeter was born! Through hard work, a little luck and constant innovation, the RiskMeter has grown to be a well respected leading national brand.

CDS Business Mapping was created as a spin-off from Connecticut Data Systems, Inc. Connecticut Data Systems provided custom software development to New England companies and government agencies from 1976 until 1998. CDS is owned by Ken Munson and his sons Dan and Jamie. Ken, an IBM veteran and industry pioneer since the mid-60's, heads the technical team. Dan is responsible for sales, marketing and overall strategy. Jamie is responsible for consulting and customer service. The company's headquarters is in Middletown, CT with a field office in Boston, MA.

CDS's primary offering is the RiskMeter Online, a real-time underwriting application based upon mapping technology. Offered exclusively as a software as a service (SaaS) offering, this technology is accessible and affordable for companies of all sizes. RiskMeter also offers related services to its customers, such as creating custom maps, geocoding and territory digitization.
